Dan Warzoha, Greenwich unexpected emergency administration director and previous fire chief, has died

GREENWICH — Daniel Warzoha, the town’s unexpected emergency administration director, put in Friday and Saturday doing the job and checking Tropical Storm Henri. He died unexpectedly Saturday evening, First Selectman Fred Camillo explained to Greenwich Time Sunday.

Warzoha, who was previously Greenwich’s hearth main and a longtime volunteer firefighter, “had a lifelong appreciate for his hometown, steadfast devotion to general public security, and enormous pride as a son of Glenville,” Camillo said in a statement.

“His legacy will also contain his central purpose during a person of the most challenging moments of the modern day era,” Camillo included. “Dan’s every day presence, reassuring demeanor, vast institutional understanding, strong community of contacts at the point out stage, and affable nature was a ease and comfort to all of us who worked with him at the Town’s Crisis Functions Center.”

Warzoha spoke with Greenwich Time on Friday as the town was planning for the tropical storm, indicating he experienced been in meetings that working day with nearby, state and regional officers.


Warzoha claimed that storm preparation was “an all-arms-on deck” effort and hard work, with police, hearth, unexpected emergency medical products and services, community is effective, parks and recreation and land use personnel all associated. He reported he was hoping for the best but preparing for the worst, and he urged people to heed the town’s emergency messages.

“This could be the largest storm party that we have noticed considering that Superstorm Sandy” and possibly 1991’s Hurricane Bob, Warzoha said Saturday morning.

The town’s present-day hearth main, Joseph McHugh, reported Warzoha was a “big section of the growth” of the fire division.

“The complete section is just likely to overlook him,” McHugh reported, including that Warzoha was a superior good friend and that his demise came as a shock. He mentioned he was in contact with Warzoha on Saturday as Henri neared.
