Buttered Hickory Nuts

500g        hickory nuts or pecans

100g        butter diced in ½ inch cubes

10g          salt

  1. Place hickory nuts, butter, and salt on an unlined sheet pan.
  2. Cook at 325 for 5 minutes, remove the nuts from teh oven and stir well. Cook the nuts for an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the pan from the oven and stir the nuts again, then allow them to cool at room temperature, so the nuts can absorb the butter.
  4. When the nuts are cool, chop them fine, and transfer to a deli for storage in the pantry.
